Gutter Costs - What To
Expect
For most people, gutter costs are the most important
factor when looking to have rain gutters installed on their
home. But how much do rain gutters cost? And what should you be
aware of before buying?
Vinyl Gutter
Costs
Vinyl rain gutters are the least expensive you can purchase
and they have some good benefits. They are lightweight,
available in many different colors, and are virtually
maintenance free. They are flexible and easy to work with.
The drawback is that they tend to become brittle with age.
Cold weather also has a negative effect on vinyl gutters as
well.
The general costs with vinyl guttering are $3 - $6 a linear
foot.
Aluminum Gutter
Costs
One of the most popular choices for home gutters is the
aluminum ones. They age well, will not rust and stand up to
different weather conditions better than vinyl. The main
drawback is that they tend to dent easily.
Aluminum rain gutters cost a little more than vinyl, but are
still very affordable. You can expect to pay $4 - $9 a linear
foot.
Copper Gutter
Costs
Copper rain gutters are a popular high-end choice and are
beautiful to say the least. They are made to last a lifetime,
but are expensive. You can expect to see prices in the $15 -
$25 a linear foot range.
Stainless Steel Gutter
Costs
Not used as frequently as other materials, stainless steel
gutters are excellent for homes in any region. They are strong,
maintenance free and last forever. You can expect to pay from
$20 - $25 a linear foot for this type of rain gutter.
Included in the costs for any of these types of gutters is
removal of old guttering and installation of new gutters and
downspouts. Chain downspouts are another option you may want to
consider as well.
